With numerous cryptocurrencies, the so-called mining is still used, through which new coins can be mined. In this context, the Giga-Hash or the hash rate plays a major role, because it defines the speed at which certain calculation options are carried out.

Why is it about the Hash Rate?

The hash rate refers to the computing power or speed of a computer in which particularly complex mathematical calculations are performed. At the same time, the hash rate is a unit in the Bitcoin network, in which such operations must be carried out. In connection with the hash rate, there is often talk of Giga-Hash or Tetra-Hash. For example, a hash rate of 2,000 Giga-Hash means that no less than two trillion calculations can be carried out per second in the Bitcoin network.

High Hash Rate Includes Various Advantages

In mining, it is of course also about effectiveness, which in turn is largely based on the hash rate. The faster the computing speed, the more tasks can be solved within a shorter time, making mining particularly effective. In addition, in the Bitcoin network, ten minutes are initially available to solve the calculation task. The level of difficulty is then increased after another ten minutes, then increased again after another ten minutes, and so on. Therefore, it is advantageous to be able to use a relatively high hash rate so that the tasks can be solved as quickly as possible.

Mining Pool Often Leads to Significantly Higher Computing Power

If, for some reason, it is not possible to purchase new computers for mining that have a higher performance, there is another alternative, namely so-called mining pools. In simple terms, several computers join together to form a pool that work together. Thus, the sum of the miners contributes to increasing the overall computing power. At the same time, the chances have increased that the difficult calculation tasks can be solved within the specified limit. The hash rate that can be achieved in this way is all the greater, the more miners join together to form a pool.
