Which Exchanges Exist on the Market?

Meanwhile, there are well over ten larger exchanges where you can trade cryptocoins. The best-known cryptocoin exchanges, which mostly only provide trading and rarely also a wallet, include:

On these and other exchanges, you can either trade cryptocurrencies against Swiss francs or against another central bank currency, although you usually also have the option of exchanging different cryptocurrencies with each other.

Which Cryptocoins Can be Traded?

A difference between the various exchanges is mainly which cryptocoins can be traded there. If you take a look at the different cryptocoin exchanges, you will quickly notice that there are only a few exchanges where more than ten different cryptocurrencies can be traded. In most cases, it is a maximum of three of the best-known digital currencies that can be traded, such as frequently:

  • Bitcoin
  • Ethereum
  • Litecoin

On some cryptocoin exchanges, it is still the case that only Bitcoin can be traded there. However, the trend is clearly towards the leading cryptocoin exchanges also wanting to offer as many cryptocurrencies as possible for trading. For example, anycoindirect currently has over ten digital currencies that can be bought or sold there.

Compare Cryptocoin Exchanges with each Other

Whenever you don’t just want to trade with the three best-known cryptocurrencies, but are perhaps also interested in cryptocurrencies that are not traded so frequently, a comparison of the exchanges makes sense. You can usually find out at a glance and without prior registration directly on the exchange which different digital currencies can be traded there. You should also note that it can take some time, especially with relatively new cryptocurrencies, before they can be traded via the corresponding cryptocoin exchange. A good example is currently the cryptocurrency IOTA, as it can only be traded on Bitfinex so far.
