On the one hand, the term \u201ctoken\u201d often refers to any cryptocurrency. On the other hand, it refers to all crypto assets. This meaning is particularly important in the field of decentralized finance.   <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Types of Tokens<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tokens are generally divided into three categories: utility tokens, security tokens, and asset-backed tokens. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinpro.ch\/en\/glossary\/utility-token\/\"><b>Utility tokens<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> were created specifically for the purpose of interacting with a particular product or service within a blockchain network. However, unlike utility tokens, security tokens are regulated by securities laws and regulations.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Asset-Backed Tokens<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are tokens that are backed by a real asset. Everything is possible here, from silver and gold to works of art and entire properties. These tokens allow investors to invest in physical assets without having physical ownership or access to that asset. This reduces the total number of Binance Coins in circulation and increases the value of the remaining tokens.  <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Staking of Tokens<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An example of the use of tokens in blockchain technology is the concept of \u201cstaking\u201d. With staking, users hold a certain amount of tokens in a blockchain wallet, thereby helping to secure the blockchain platform. In return, they receive a reward in the form of additional tokens.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Staking is an important element in many blockchains, such as Cardano. Cardano uses a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinpro.ch\/en\/glossary\/proof-of-stake-pos\/\">proof-of-stake consensus mechanism<\/a>, in which users hold tokens in their wallet to verify transactions on the platform and create new blocks.
