Jiuzi and OranjeBTC: Two New Companies Invest Billions in Bitcoin
The institutional push for Bitcoin continues. The two newest Bitcoin investors, Jiuzi Holdings and OranjeBTC, come from China and Brazil. They demonstrate that the rush for the world’s largest cryptocurrency is also taking place outside the USA.
A few hours ago, the Chinese company Jiuzi Holdings announced in a press release its intention to invest up to one billion US dollars in Bitcoin.
“The Board of Directors has officially approved and adopted a policy for investments in cryptocurrencies,” it states.
Going forward, they intend to use this opportunity to invest a portion of their reserves in selected cryptocurrencies under strict regulations, to enable diversification of funds.
To align Jiuzi towards crypto in the future, they have specifically hired Dr. Doug Buerger as a new Chief Operating Officer, who is tasked with driving the company’s modernization.
Company Chairman Tao Li stated: “The introduction of the crypto investment policy is a proactive step (…) with the goal of securing and increasing long-term value for shareholders. We are very pleased that an experienced specialist like Dr. Doug Buerger is leading this program.”
The potential billion-dollar investment follows a 4-point plan. For example, the investment sum of one billion US dollars must not be exceeded. Initially, only purchases of the cryptocurrencies Bitcoin, Ethereum, and BNB are permitted. The custody of the assets will be handled by a partner. An in-house crypto team monitors the portfolio.
Jiuzi Holdings sells electric vehicles in the People’s Republic of China and operates a related infrastructure where customers can charge their vehicles. The company has been listed on NASDAQ under the ticker JZXN since 2021.
OranjeBTC: Brazil Receives Bitcoin Proxy Investment
Under the name OranjeBTC, Brazil is getting a new Bitcoin proxy investment. Experienced figures from the crypto industry are said to be involved in the project. Guilherme Gomes previously held a management position at the crypto service provider Swan Bitcoin.
Fernando Ulrich and Josh Levine, other crypto pioneers, are involved in the project. According to their assessment, the Brazilian market offers great growth potential. They therefore want to seize the opportunity to establish a company that will be traded as a Bitcoin proxy on a regulated stock exchange. OranjeBTC is expected to be listed on the Brazilian stock exchange B3 as early as the beginning of October.
Yesterday, Brazilian media such as the Brazil Journal reported on the Bitcoin proxy’s first investment. OranjeBTC reportedly acquired 3,650 BTC. The coins currently have a market value of 412 million US dollars.
With its very first purchase, the company became the largest known Bitcoin investor in the entire country. The only known competitor is the financial service provider Meliuz, which holds around 605 BTC.
OranjeBTC also holds its own internationally. It already ranks 23rd among all publicly known Bitcoin investors, between Boyaa and Sequans. However, this is just the beginning, the company made clear.
OranjeBTC stated that it would continue its aggressive Bitcoin investments in the future. The company therefore aims to be among the top 12, which already manage billions in Bitcoin.
