Last year, Cardano set up a decentralized management system. Now the concept is leading to conflict in the user community. A well-known whale is criticizing founder Charles Hoskinson and wants to replace Input Output as the blockchain’s developer. As a result, he is calling on users to enforce this concept through voting. According to Hoskinson, the background is actually trivial.

Cardano in Conflict: this is why a Whale is Criticizing Founder Hoskinson

Cardano is currently in a strong conflict between supporters and opponents of the Input Output Group (IOG), which acts as the main developer of the Cardano blockchain. At its head is CEO Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of Ethereum and founder of Cardano.

A public dispute was initiated by a user who maintained an account on X under the name Cardano_Whale. In the meantime, however, this user account has been deleted.

The whale (a scene term for large investors) also made a powerful appearance in the Cardano forum. In a post there, he announced that he would consistently reject any application originating from the Input Output Group.

Cardano has been using a decentralized management system since September 1, 2024. As a result, developer Input Output can no longer make independent decisions. Applications are published on the Gov.tools website and Cardano holders can vote on them.

Cardano_Whale has received some attention from the Cardano community, not least because he has a remarkable voting power with six million ADA. The value of the coins amounts to 4.2 million US dollars at the current market situation.

“I have decided to no longer support applications from Input Output”, wrote the whale in a statement.

He is generally disappointed with the work of the developers. In order to remedy this critical situation, the community must come together and enforce the desire for new developers, he wrote.

“We are in a situation where the founding organization has not done much for years and is requesting enormous sums of money to keep this show of neglect alive.”

With this, he criticizes the course of Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, whose opinions are decisive for the IOG. The user called on investors to support him in rejecting all IOG applications.

The IOG could thus be generally blocked and no longer enforce its will over the future of the blockchain. This is possible through so-called DReps – representatives of the community to whom investors can give their voting rights.

This is how Charles Hoskinson Reacts to the Criticism of the ADA Community

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson responded to the allegations in a video yesterday. He dismissed the user’s criticisms. They are void. The IOG has always delivered its promised work.

In fact, the development of Cardano is progressing slowly. Cardano and the IOG have built up a corresponding reputation. At the same time, the developers’ work is considered robust and significantly less prone to errors than competing smart contract platforms.

Cardano was founded as early as 2015, the blockchain was launched in 2017 after two years of development and the basic smart contracts were only added in 2021.

Hoskinson is keen to make it clear that many innovations are on the way. The development of the blockchain has by no means come to a standstill.

“Many innovations are in the pipeline. From (…) Midnight to innovations like Mithril and major Plutus improvements.”

The 37-year-old American suspects that the criticism is the outgrowth of a personal feud. For years, the whale had been an active supporter. All this changed after the IOG proposed selling $100 million worth of ADA to invest it profitably in Bitcoin and stablecoins.

“It’s about ego. About emotions. He was confronted and is now angry”, explains Hoskinson.

Contrary to what the whale claimed, the Cardano course is not endangered by a sale worth 100 million US dollars. Hoskinson also suspects that the user defended his position using Chat-GPT and should therefore not be taken seriously.
