Segwit

SegWit is short for Segregated Witness. It is a so-called soft fork change that has been integrated into the transaction format in the Bitcoin digital currency system.

What is SegWit for?

SegWit is a so-called scaling solution. In addition to Bitcoin, the technology is also used by Litecoin, for example. In contrast, Bitcoin Cash does not use this technology.

SegWit reduces the weight of transactions in a block in the blockchain. This is done by splitting a transaction. The first part contains the sender’s and recipient’s wallet addresses, while the signatures are contained in the second part.
