Bitcoin wallets are digital wallets. They are used to store crypto holdings. Wallets are available in various versions. Many exchanges offer storage options on their platforms. Wallets are available in the form of mobile apps, USB sticks and cold wallets.
What Types of Wallets are there?
We generally distinguish between hot and cold wallets. Hot wallets are connected to the internet, while cold wallets store the private key offline. Therefore, cold wallets are much more secure. An example of cold hardware is the Ledger Nano S Plus.
Another distinction is made between custodial and non-custodial wallets. With non-custodial wallets, you have the private key yourself. With a custodial wallet, only the wallet provider has access to the private key. So you don’t control the coins yourself.
